Snakes and Lattes

What a fun and awesome concept - $5 ahead, play as many games as you want and however long you want to! On top of that order a coffee or even some alcoholic beverages and you're set for a night of laughs or a breakfast with trivial fun. Snakes and Lattes is located west on Bloor and as you walk in on your left there will be a warm greeting from the host and on your way in a whole bunch of shelves that are filled with board games and more will just make you go "wow!" From word games to classics,  there is a  game suitable for every crowd. I got to enjoy a game of Guess Who with a cappucino and a lovely breakfast quiche. It may be a college hangout but it definitely appeals to everyone, young and old. [gallery columns="2"]

416 Snack Bar

Now that school is done, it's all play and no work! 416 Snack bar was the perfect place to kick off the celebrations with delicious food and beer/cocktails. Just on Queen and Bathurst, this tiny hub seats very few but is totally worth the wait as you can entertain yourselves with drinks. The weather was gorgeous out as they had the front windows cranked up and allowed us to enjoy the sun. Food/Drink: Flying Monkey, Steak tartare, 416 version of Scotch Eggs, lobster bisque, mushrooms on brioche, creamy seafood bun, pork bun, a miscellaneous vegetable dish, ham and cheese sandwich, and lamb chop.[gallery]

Ed Sheeran and Snow Patrol - Massey Hall, Toronto

Massey Hall last night was packed once again, as Snow Patrol added a second show to their Toronto venue. Ed Sheeran was the opening act and did a brilliant job as a one man act where he sang, beatbox and got the crowd going. Of course there were screaming girls waiting to see him afterward but 4 blocks away and willing to line up outside. They were definitely there for Eddie and not for Snow Patrol as most of them left half way through the main act. Snow Patrol played all of the classics: Called Out In The Dark, Chasing Cars, Shut your Eyes, If There's A Rocket Tie Me To It,  Take Back The City and of course Just Say Yes. They definitely had fun with the audience, calling out on people including myself which was pretty cool during their opening number - I was of course the only one in my dull section standing and singing and dancing my heart out with them. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and the show proved to be the best kick off to my summer! [gallery]

1000 Paper Cranes

For an assignment in my experimental photography class, I decided to incorporate Sadako's story about how 1000 cranes could grant anyone a wish - hers was to survive. Read her story here. I asked many of my family and friends to fold cranes and I reached 1300 cranes. I decided to create a large crane using all 1000 cranes that I received and projected images of people who were near and dear to their hearts - some are fighting or have fought through cancer, or through hard times and US soldiers were also included. Unfortunately I was not able to take a picture of the entire project in the dark, but it was a "magical piece" as quoted from my professor when shown with the lights off. [slideshow]
